Keeping the Arabian heritage alive through embroidered fashion pieces has been Mervat’s mission since she began her fashion business back in 2019. Currently living in Amman, 44-year-old Mervat learned to be financially independent; she found that designing embroidered thobes, kaftans, and other pieces, has been helping her a lot and generating a steady income. Since establishing her business, Mervat has hired a few women who were struggling to make a living and couldn’t find stable jobs. Together, they work as a team to resonate with the authentic Middle Eastern culture through the pieces they design and tailor. Now that the pandemic has passed, Mervat began to see the light at the end of the tunnel, since she passed through some setbacks due to the pandemic’s negative effects on the markets. Mervat plans to work hard on making her pieces known locally, regionally, and maybe one day, internationally. She is proud of her cultural heritage and showcases these beautiful designs through every string she threads.

Mervat sees Crafts Market as an effective channel to regional and international success. She’s optimistic that her designs will be showcased to a broader and varied market and hopes to catch the attention of customers from other nationalities and to see the beauty of the Middle Eastern culture through her fashion statements.
