In the past, Arab rugs were limited to covering the floor and some other uses in the home for adornment purposes, and they were based on three designs. It bears a traditional character and specific colors. As for the third, is the “Marqum Carpet” which consists of triangles connected to each other and there are no spaces between them.

The artist "Muslim Joudeh"'s love for traditional pieces and crafts and textiles began when he worked in tourism. He noticed the interest of tourists in Jordanian heritage in all its forms, whether it was food, traditional daily, and even the way of living. His personal project, so he learned how to weave textiles, especially the traditional margoum rug.

So he went to make the marqoum, which is a Jordanian heritage that his grandmother and aunt used to make. He learned the craft from them and added his personal effort to highlight the pieces and integrate the traditional heritage design with pieces that can be used on a daily basis, such as bags and so on.

Al-Marqoom is a project for the artist "Muslim Jouda" that he initiated to help preserve this type of craft continuously and communicate it to everyone who cares about the love of heritage pieces. And wool and use it with new designs to preserve the environment.

The artist hopes to be able to preserve this craft and ensure its continuity and dissemination by joining the Crafts Market platform.
