The ceramics industry, or what is known as pottery, is one of the first crafts in human history. It is a wonderful mixture of authenticity and contemporary and traditional hard handicrafts that are accepted only by those who love and are convinced of it, and this is reflected in his works. The potter is an artist craftsman who spends long hours shaping his masterpiece until he produces it with a creative artistic production that is different from that produced by the machine.
Artist Khaleda Al-Khuraisat and her husband, Raed Al-Hourani, have long experience in the field of ceramics, as they had a passion for handmade things, but she never thought of turning her passion into a profession that she takes as a source of income to help her in facing difficult living conditions. With time and in 2009, the artist Khaleda and her husband, Raed, decided to open their own project in the field of ceramics, which they called (Saltos). Khaleda started designing and producing a selection of items using the art of ceramics, where she used to spend her time making handcrafted pieces of art such as pots, vases, plates, and many other decorations. The problem of the availability of manpower was one of the biggest challenges that Khaleda faced in this field, so she and her husband held training courses to educate many young men and women so that they could integrate into society and improve their financial conditions by learning the craft of ceramics and working in the Saltus project. And now five women and four young men are working on the project. The project also provides a two-hour tourism experience service for the manufacture of the pottery piece for visitors from inside and outside the city of Salt and foreign tourists, and the goal is to sell the story of the product and spread the ceramic culture to many visitors.
Khaleda participated in many exhibitions and bazaars, in addition to her project received the King Abdullah Award for Freelance Work, where her project was honored by a visit from His Majesty King Abdullah II and his Crown Prince. In pursuit of bringing her business to the largest category of clients locally and internationally, Khaleda decided to join the CRAFTS MARKET platform in order to share her successes and help her in the field of marketing services, through a specialized team aimed at marketing handicrafts with the latest methods, to help craftsmen working in the field of handicrafts and for a non-profit purpose.
