The art of philography or drawing with threads and nails spread in the Ottoman era, and it is considered one of the branches of painting in which threads and nails are used instead of pens and papers, where nails are fixed on a piece of wood and then threads are intertwined with nails to produce the required painting, and It is considered a difficult art because it requires accuracy in fixing the nails in the required place.
After coming to Jordan due to the difficult security situation in his native country Iraq, the artist Nawar Al-Kawam participated in many awareness, training, and cultural training, and he got acquainted with different societies and deviations and began working on developing his hobby of drawing using acrylic, lead, and charcoal colors. He was trying to take advantage of his hobby and make it a craft and a source of livelihood due to the difficult economic conditions in which he was living. During the period of closure imposed by the Corona epidemic, he drew his attention to many works and drawings using the art of philography. He was impressed by this art and decided to learn and master it, so he purchased the tools required to work and began to apply the educational videos he was watching. The result of the first work he did was simple in performance and needed some modifications, and for his insistence on success and excellence, Nawar intensified training and worked hard to develop his skills, until he was able to possess the skill and high accuracy to produce a distinctive and attractive work and opened a small workshop in his home through which he manufactured and equipped many distinctive works of various designs and colors. Nawar also worked as a matter of social responsibility to train many young people in the Jhud Social Support Center to help them acquire a craft through which they can improve their living conditions.
Nawar has published his works on social media, and through his participation in exhibitions and bazaars, but he aspires to have his works reach all parts of the world, and not only within Jordan, so he decided to join the CRAFTS MARKET to help him in this task, which increases his sales volume and the spread of his works at the local and international levels, through a national platform that provides all the marketing services necessary for the success of projects of workers in the field of handicrafts.
