From a modest workshop that does not exceed a few meters in size, behind his house in the village of Kufranja in Ajloun Governorate, the 35-year-old Jordanian youth, Samer Freihat, was able to associate his name with the manufacture of the most important and prominent heritage collectibles in his country.

Wood is the manufacturing material, and iron files are the tools that Fraihat uses in his hands to shape the Mahbash, the tool used by his fathers and grandfathers to grind coffee beans after roasting them, in preparation for cooking them and preparing Jordanian coffee. Every knock and method of playing the Mahbash had symbols, insinuations, and messages for the people of the region, In the morning it is a call, and in the evening it is for fun, conquest, and wars. Samer did not learn this craft from anyone, but his love for the legacy of his parents and grandparents was the main motive for his love to learn it, and the nature of the rural area in which he inhabits played a positive role in developing his craft because its people use these tools.

Samer started fifteen years ago in this simple workshop, and what distinguishes him in his profession is the method of manufacturing, as he uses natural materials such as some special oils, such as wheat oil, monitor oil, and olive oil in the first place, and he also manufactures mahbash and its accessories from eucalyptus wood, rose, walnut, apricot, and butam. , in addition to making it into cardamom mortar and various kitchen utensils. He also specialized in the manufacture of crutches and introduced some international cultures from different countries of the world, such as the Turkish, Italian, African, Arab Bedouin, and the traditional Jordanian crutches.

Samer has participated in several training courses at the Ministry of Culture and several other local authorities and has cooperated with government agencies to manufacture some products to present as gifts to foreign delegations, to show the Jordanian traditional product to the world. The “Productive Youth” initiative was the reason behind the meeting of young Freihat with His Majesty King Abdullah II, during which His Majesty provided him with financial and logistical support, noting that the meeting had a great impact on himself his continued progress and excellence.
