Beautiful Jordanian crochet dolls travel the world… The lovely crochet dolls made by pharmacist Sanaa Abu Mtawa’ roam across the globe, reaching different continents. After leaving her job in a pharmacy following ten years of work — in 2019 — she found herself thinking outside the box, embarking on a creative project. She searched the internet for details and ideas that inspired her to start making dolls.

Her passion for art, crochet, dolls, and children — along with her artistic hobby in doll-making — helped guide her, five years ago, toward a different path: mastering the craft of doll creation. This coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, which offered an opportunity to spark creativity during the work shutdown.

She produced more than 200 dolls that traveled the world, each handcrafted based on details chosen by women and children who wanted to gift them to their loved little ones. Some were gifted to young girls on different occasions, bringing joy to their hearts. When she began her doll-making project, her wish was to reach children’s hearts and create everything that could make them happy through crochet dolls designed using the Japanese amigurumi technique. In Japanese, ami means "knitting," while gurumi means "stuffed dolls." This art form specializes in knitting and crafting stuffed dolls and figurines from crochet to give them a three-dimensional shape.
